the old dispatcher speaks

My Officers were always my priorities,
some more than others.
Some were mere acquaintances;
some were my ‘brothers’.

Some reached out for my heart
from the day we first met;
The special ones I still cherish,
the ones I will never forget!

Those were the ones that carried my heart
with them on every call,
As I held my breath, and prayed,
"Dear Jesus, don’t let evil befall."

When I think back to those by-gone days,
you are one of the first ones I think of;
And remember with much respect, some mischief,
but always with a lot of love.

For you were a symbol of everything good
and respectful for our little town.
A police officer doing his job to the utmost of his ability;
few can be found!

Not just going for the big arrest,
but going to help someone in need;
Never passing up an opportunity
to help out by doing a good deed.

Few and far between,
those men in uniform are today;
The ones that CARE,
the ones that DARE to do it the right way.

But it is with much pride
I call you one of the very BEST;
And with much humility, I say,
"For knowing you, I am BLESSED!"

Thanks for always walking tall and straight
and never bending down;
Always holding your head up high
and never looking at the ground.

For carrying your gun; but moreover,
for wearing that badge over your heart;
It shows your true feeling, a top cop,
going beyond the call of duty;
doing more than your part!

And so now today, some 25 years later,
when I hear the calls ring out in the night,
I still get that thrill of knowing there’s a cop somewhere
doing what is right!!

GOD BLESS THE GOOD COPS,
GOD BLESS THEM ONE AND ALL!!
