the man of the hour; the man of the power
As I stood in line with my groceries,
a man behind me casually spoke;
Pointing toward the newspapers, he said,
“Can’t believe what they wrote.
“Every day this old world gets bleaker,
Every day this country gets weaker.
“I just wonder where it’s all gonna end;
What’s your take on it, my young friend?”
I could not agree with him any less than I did,
my heart was stirred;
This man needed to know Jesus,
for his spiritual eyes were blurred!
I picked up the paper and I tossed it aside,
“Have you not heard of Jesus, that 2000 years ago died?
“He died for you, He died for me,
He arose triumphant from the grave;
He lives now, your darkened heart to forgive,
your soul to save!
“Let Him walk the shores of America,
let Him walk the halls of Congress;
Let Him back in the schools;
He already knows
the answer to every test!
“Don’t talk to me about world religion and gloom;
I didn’t come to hear another prophet of doom!
“I have already read the back of the book;
The Father is about to give His Son the look…
“And He’ll be returning, oh, sir, He’s the Man of the hour;
He’s the Alpha, the Omega; He’s the Man of all power!
“Save your downcast reports and bleak outlooks
for someone else here in line;
You make me smile, for all you are telling me is you,
too can see all the signs!
“Those dark clouds are about to split,
and I’m gonna be a gone-girl.
You see, my eyes are fixed elsewhere,
than on this ol’ world.
“I’m not even sure I’ll need these groceries,
‘cause my meal is being cooked;
And my Heavenly ride is almost here,
my flight is already securely booked.
“Wish you would come go with me, to see the Man of the Hour;
He could be your Savior too, you know, He’s the Man of all Power.
