joy
From the first time
I knelt and said a prayer;
I had an assurance that all along,
God had been there.
He was awaiting my first call,
like an anxious mother;
All He wanted was my total attention;
He had love like no other.
I asked that He would give me
a life to share with the world;
I said, "Lord, let me always show love to all,
for I’m Your girl."
It was then and there
I placed my life in His keeping;
And ever since then,
my love for Him has been deepening.
I told Him (as if He didn’t know already)
that my name was Joy,
I prayed I’d always be exactly that –
happiness that can’t be destroyed.
"Let every man that knows my name,
also know my heart;"
May the contentment I possess
be something that to others I may impart.
Instead of tears in amidst all life’s trials,
May they see only rainbows, sunshine and smiles.
