if it matters at all

Few things matter at all anymore,
You are tired, your soul is sore.
The smile is gone from your face,
It’s almost time to give up the race.
Why not turn the boat around
and anchor it to the first tree;
After all, going this far, and finding nothing,
isn’t for me!
Just give up the ship, yes, I,
too have had that feeling;
Tired of looking at the same floors, walls and ceiling.
You are sunk fast in a rut of no return;
There’s no one to be found with any concern.
The world will walk right over you, if you sit too long,
And only pause to let you know you are so very wrong!
In the midst of all the trouble and strife,
You almost wish for an end to your life.
Things are so complicated in today’s world;
All of it together can keep you in a big whirl.
But, even though your spirits have fallen so low,
There is one little thing I’d like to let you know.
Within your reach, yes, I’ll remain that near….
And in case it matters at all, I still care!!
