something beyond the sunset
I looked at the folks out there in the world today, Lord
And saw that the life they live is so tiresome and hard.
It all made me sad and hurt down deep for those ones;
It seems they have no hope beyond each day’s rising sun.
I wondered if through the life I’m living they can see You;
Or do they think I am one of them, doing what I want to do?
I pray in my eyes, Your love for all does reflect;
In my smile, may Your kindness show through perfect.
May my ears hear only that which will glorify Your name;
And may my works, and the works You do, be one in the same.
Let me always walk in the ways You would go;
Let me be in Your likeness, Lord, from head to toe.
The thoughts inside my head that none else know of;
May they, too, be of You, filled with Your love.
And the words that do come from my lips,
may they be as Your own.
To the world, may I be a constant reminder
that You are on the throne.
Let these foolish, feeble words depart from my way;
Let me grow more like You Jesus, in all I do and say.
Remind me daily to keep my focus on the cross on Calvary’s hill;
The one You died on, as You did the Father’s perfect will.
Yet let me always remember, too, that the cross is empty today;
For You completed Your earthly mission and ascended away…
To sit there on the right hand of God Himself,
ever interceding,
Always calling my name to the Father,
always for my cause, pleading.
May my life show these folks that there is hope
beyond tomorrow’s sunrise;
And even if tomorrow never comes again;
may they see Jesus in my eyes!
