I still remember that trip to the altar at the First Assembly of God Church, here in Edna, Texas, at the ripe age of NINE years old! Wow! I was 'escorted' down the aidle by my parents. They told me to kneel down with them, and all three of us prayed the sinner's prayer together. I didn't feel a lot different, but 'home' became an awesome place to live! My mom started 'cleaning house' the very next morning! That was 40 years ago, back in the 'best old days'!! Back when the shorts, cigarettes and cussing was replaced with a Bible and gospel music blaring from the stereo speakers every night from the hallway into my bedroom. Wow! What a change!
I grew a lot faster physically than I did spiritually for awhile, I know, but I did have a true relationship with Jesus Christ, and I knew how to get to the throne in time of need. When I was in the 5th grade, I wrote my first 6 line poem (and made 100!!) Although it didn't say a thing about the Lord, I knew I NEEDED to write. Even today, you don't usually catch me without a pen and paper close by.
A cousin of mine once said that I really didn't have a testimony because I was saved from so much (of the world's pull) at such as early age. Oh, but I DO have a testimony!! Oh, but I do!! It took His same blood from Calvary to cover my sins as it did the rankest ol' sinner's! We have ALL sinned and come short of the glory of God! But thanks be unto God, we are made worthy through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ!
Through the years, the Lord has blessed me with the inspiration to write poetry that glorifies Him. My yearning, my goal in life, and my TRUE plea from the bottom depths of my heart is to live ever closer to the Lord and let my light SO shine that others may see a reason to glorify my Father which is in Heaven!
